Prof. Bimal K. Bose completed his PhD at the age of 34 years from Calcutta University, India. He is Emeritus Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA. He has published 7 books, more than 250 papers in reputed journals, holds 21 U.S. Patents, and had been serving as an editorial board member of Proceedings of the IEEE. He served as faculty member of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1971-1976), research engineer in GE Global Research Center (1976-1987), and Endowed Chair Professor of the University of Tennessee. He is a recipient of 7 IEEE awards, Honorary D.Sc. from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, India.

Power Electronics

Nicole Herbots, i.r., PhD UCL, doctor ingenieur, joined ASU's Department of Physics & Astronomy in 1991 ,after 4 years as a faculty at MIT (1987-1991), and 3.5 years as research scientist in the Solid State Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (1984-1987). She is presently a professor emeritus in Physics at ASU. She is an inventor who holds multiple patents in semiconductors, medical electronics, molecular inorganic and organic nanophases and nanoscale technology. She is also a science educator who won a teaching award from engineering students for her development of interactive in-class and desktop experiments to teach fundamental and quantum physics concepts to undergraduates, and for her use of technology and whiteboards. She was an IBM Professor of Electronic Materials and a Carl Soderberg professor at MIT and a researcher in the Particle-Solid Interactions in the Solid State Division at Oak Ridge National Lab.

Prof. Vasily Yu. Belashov, PhD (Radiophysics), Doctor of Science (Physics and Mathematics). Main fields: theory and numerical simulation of the dynamics of multi-dimensional nonlinear waves, solitons and vortex structures in plasmas and other dispersive media. Presently, he is Professor in the Kazan Federal University. He was Coordinator of studies on the International Program “Solar Terminator” (1987-1992), and took part in Programs WITS/WAGS and STEP. Theory and numerical simulation of the dynamics of multi-dimensional nonlinear waves, solitons and vortex structures in plasmas and other dispersive media

Francisco Márquez was born in Valencia (Spain) and received his Bachelor and Master´s degree in Biochemistry and Chemistry at the Universidad de Valencia in 1988 and 1989, respectively, and his Doctor´s degree in Chemistry at the Universidad de Valencia in 1992. He spent two years from 1990 as Director of the laboratories of Futura Medical S.A. and one year as researcher at the Varian Iberica Laboratories. From 1994 he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. In 2001 he was an Associate Professor at the Universidad Jaime I and subsequently he moved to the School of Natural Sciences and Technology at the University of Turabo in Puerto Rico, USA, where is now Full Professor of chemistry. He has been Visiting Professor in several universities, most recently at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. His research interests are mainly directed toward photophysics of organic compounds in confined spaces, hydrogen technology, photodegradation processes, synthesis and applications of nanotubes and nanowires, and most recently the development of new electrodes for Li-ion batteries. He is a coauthor of over 100 scientific publications and 11 patents, and Editor-in-Chief of Soft Nanoscience Letters, Advances in Energy Research and International Research Journal of Pure and Applied Chemistry.

Catalysis, nanomaterials, and hydrogen production

Sergey Kravchenko was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1960. He was graduated from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1982 and got his Ph.D. from Institute of Solid State Physics in Chernogolovka, Russia, in 1998. He is mostly famous for his discovery of the metallic state and metal-insulator transition in two dimensions which was listed among the 50 main discoveries in Mesoscopic Physics of the last century on American Physical Society timeline in 1999 (“A Century of Mesoscopic Physics: 1899 - 1999”). At present, he is a Professor of Physics at Northeastern University, Boston, USA.

Experimental Condensed Matter Physics

Matti Pitkanen is Finnish theoretical physicist. Since 1978 he has worked with Topological Geometrodynamics (TGD), which is a proposal for a unification of fundamental interactions generalizing string models. After the thesis on the subject (1982) he has continued as a free researcher to develop mathematical theory around the basic physical ideas represented in thesis. During nineties p-adic physics, quantum theory of consciousness, and quantum biology became parts of TGD program. Around 2005 the hypothesis about hierarchy of Planck constants led to a further generalization of the basic mathematical framework of TGD.

Lukasz Andrzej Glinka, born on October 5, 1984 in Poland, is internationally recognized as a voluntary editor and reviewer at the think tanks of open-access journals, science author, non-fiction and philosophy writer. He is the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Astrophysics and Aerospace Technology of the OMICS Group, and an Organizing Committee Member to the International Conference on Astrophysics and Particle Physics, December 8-10, 2016, Dallas, Texas, USA. Eliade Stefanescu graduated the Faculty of Electronics, Section of Physicist Engineers, in 1970, and obtained a PhD in Theoretical Physics in 1990. As a Scientist from 1976, a Senior Scientist III from 1978, he worked in technology of semiconductor devices. From 1978, he worked in physics of optoelectronic devices. From 1987, and from 1990 as a Senior Scientist II, he worked in the field of open quantum physics. In 1991 he discovered that the penetrability of a potential barrier can be increased by coupling to a dissipative system, and described the decay spectrum of some cold fission modes. As a Senior Scientist I, from 1997 he developed a microscopic theory of open quantum systems, and discovered a physical principle for the heat conversion into usable energy. In 2014, he produced a unitary relativistic quantum theory. In the years 1995-2000, he held a course called Dissipative Systems for the master degree.

Vladimir V. Rumyantsev is Head of Department of Theory of Complex Systems Dynamic Properties at A.A. Galkin Donetsk Institute for Physics and Engineering (DonIPE). He is Professor of Theoretical Physics and Nanotechnology Department at Donetsk National University (DonNU). He received PhD in Theoretical Physics (1988) from DonNU and Dr. Sci. in Condensed Matter Physics (2007) from DonIPE. Prof. Rumyantsev has authored/co-authored 4 books, 2 chapters in books and more than 230 scientific publications. He is a member of the American Physical Society as well as Mediterranean Institute of Fundamental Physics (MIFP, Italy) and Editor-in-Chiff of Journal of Photonic Materials and Technology (Science PG, USA).

Current research interests include various aspects of solid state physics, crystallooptics, photonics; more particularly - theoretical study of the effects of disorder in quasi-two-dimensional nanofilms and layered structures caused by the propagation of electromagnetic and acoustic excitations, light-matter coupling in composite nanostructures.

Prof. Dr. Changzhi Gu, received a Ph.D. degree in Condensed Matter Physics from Jilin University in 1997. In 2001, he was selected into the "100 Talents Program" of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and moved to the Institute of Physics (IOP), CAS. He has been a Professor in Condensed Matter Physics at IOP since 2001. Now, he is the deputy director of IOP. His research focused on the synthesis and property of wide-band gap thin films, artificial structures and devices in nanometer scale. In this field, he has published more than 200 papers in reputed Journals, these pappers were cited more than 3000 by others.

Patrick Siarry was born in France in 1952. He received the PhD degree from the University Paris 6, in 1986 and the Doctorate of Sciences (Habilitation) from the University Paris 11, in 1994. He was first involved in the development of analog and digital models of nuclear power plants at Electricite de France (E.D.F.). Since 1995 he is a professor in automatics and informatics. His main research interests are computer-aided design of electronic circuits, and the applications of new stochastic global optimization heuristics to various engineering fields. He is also interested in the fitting of process models to experimental data, the learning of fuzzy rule bases, and of neural networks.
